About Samantha Simmons
Samantha Simmons, born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, grew up surrounded by the arts. Both parents worked in the theatre industry, encouraging Samantha and her twin sister, Abigail, to do the same. While neither sister pursued the performing arts as a career, Samantha did continue to study visual arts. In the spring of 2017 she graduated from Arcadia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. Samantha’s interest in the arts began when she was a child and throughout her life she has experimented with and worked in many mediums.
In 2014 and 2016 her work was selected to be part of the Arcadia University Student Biennial, a juried show held every other year at the university. As well as working as a freelance photographer, Samantha works in a gallery and frame shop in her home town. Samantha balances her love of art with a passion for service work and human rights activism as an active member of Amnesty International. She hopes to one day combine her activism and her art in order to shine light on social and global injustices.
